Douala : Twin Brothers terrorise Bessengue neighbourhood, say they are not afraid of the police and gendarmes

By Washira Helene

The population of the Bessengue neighbourhood in Douala, Littoral Region of Cameroon, have raised a desperate cry for help over twin brothers said to be making life unbearable for them.

“Everyday they attack and stab innocent people including traders of the Mboppi market” an inhabitant opened up to MMI about the recent terror they have been living in.

Local sources confirm that the miscreants have gained notoriety to the extent that they are known commonly as “the twins of evil.” The appellation, according to many in the neighbourhood, came about because the duo have been giving them sleepless nights with uncountable attacks without being apprehended by the police.

“Everyday they threaten the populations with the long knives saying that they belong to a gang of microbes of 25 members, they have imposed a curfew on us to sleep at 7pm,” lamented an inhabitant.

All the people who spoke to MMI expressed concerns that law enforcement officials appeared either to be powerless or had turned a blind eye to the atrocities of the infamous twins:

“4 years ago, they stabbed a young man of the neighborhood, to death and till date, there has been no justice. They say they are not afraid of the gendarmerie as they have something which protects them from anything,” one of our sources furthered.

It is also alleged that the inhabitants of the neighbourhood have reported the twins to the authorities on several occasions but no action has been taken. This has left them helpless as they no longer know what to do as the situation keeps getting worst.
