Several residents from the Total Bonateki to Pont Bonabessem have been victims of mass-theft of water meters from their homes.
Reports say the orchestrators of this act are still unknown despite it having been done on a large scale. The act is believed to have been carried out on the night of November 07, 2021.
Residents reveal that it was in the dawn of November 08, 2021, that they had discovered the heist. Water meters had been removed from several taps, leaving a mass of overflown water from the taps around the surroundings.
It is believed that the perpetrators of the act have the aim of reselling the meters at their prices in the black market. An investigation has nevertheless been opened to track down the culprits of the act.
Water authorities in the Littoral have not failed to remind the population that all water meters are a property of the Cameroon Water Utilities, CamWater, and can only be distributed by them. In the event of a theft or fault, it is only the company that can replace it.
