Douala: Woman arrested for child torture

A lady by name Edwan has been placed under custody for allegedly pouring a pot of hot water on a boy.

The reason for this alleged action by the lady resident in the county’s economic capital, Douala, neighbors say, can be attributed to his alleged theft.

Accusing the young boy with whom she lives of stealing the sum of 60,000FCFA, the lady who is now detained at a police station is said to have burnt the boy with hot water and locked him up in the house.

Videos on social media show the young boy nursing burn wounds on his chest and stomach.

It is suspected that the lady in question and her husband had made it a habit to maltreat the boy, beating him up on several occasions by the couple without any justifications.

The lady was reported to the police by her neighbors after they discovered the burns on the boys body, suspecting all was not right with him.

It is alleged that the lady’s husband had tortured a 17-year-old girl by placing a hot pressing iron on her lap. The girl whose name we got as Ruth, works for them as a house help and equally helps Edwan in her Ice cream business.
