A Douala resident, identified as Eposi, is seeking answers from the bus agency Melong Express Voyage regarding her plantains and cocoyam, which have been missing for over a week.

Eposi’s fiancé, who resides in Melong, sent the food items on July 25 from the Melong Express branch in Melong, with a receipt issued to confirm the registration and payment for delivery to Douala.

However, since that Thursday, Eposi has not received her food items.

“My food was sent; to date, they aren’t telling me anything. I went there on Saturday and yesterday, Monday. They even said they would call, but they haven’t,” she lamented.

Eposi says she has spent more than 4,000 FCFA traveling to the Melong Express branch at Dakar, Douala, in search of her missing food.

Concerned about the potential spoilage of her food, Eposi explained that the branch in Douala claims they have not seen the food.

When she contacted the sender in Melong, he was informed that the food was dispatched on Thursday, and she should check back with the agency.

Despite multiple visits, her food items remain unaccounted for.

Eposi said Mirabel, an employee at the Melong branch, and Ange, a bus driver for Melong Express, are the individuals responsible for handling her delivery.

While Ange was contacted by the Douala branch and promised to come, he never showed up.

“When I went to the agency, he said he was coming, but I didn’t see him from 1 pm until 5 p.m.,” she added.

During her visits, Eposi encountered others also searching for missing food items supposedly handled by Ange.

Having visited the agency twice and spent 4,000 FCFA on transportation, Eposi expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of communication and resolution from Melong Express.

“I am not happy with their services. They aren’t telling me if they are paying for my food or not,” she said.

Eposi has yet to receive any information regarding her missing items, despite assurances of a follow-up call.

This incident is not an isolated case. Previous complaints have surfaced regarding food items disappearing at the agency.

MMI reported an instance where branch workers in Buea consumed a customer’s “canda” sent through the agency.
