Dozens attend burial of Elvis Nkam, Cameroon Amputee Footballer killed in Turkey earthquake

Cameroonian amputee footballer, Teneng Elvis Nkam, who was killed in the Turkey earthquake has been buried at his village in Pinyin, Santa Subdivision of the Northwest Region.

He was laid to rest on Friday, February 17, in an emotional funeral ceremony attended by dozens of Cameroonian amputee footballers and family members.

Popularly called Vishow, Elvis was among four players of Malatya Amputee Football Club in Turkey who were killed in a hotel building on February 6, when a deadly, 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and Syria.

His body was flown in from Instanbul, Turkey, on Wednesday, February 15, and was laid at the Bamenda Regional Hospital pending.

Two months before his death, Elvis Nkam had signed a lucrative deal with Malatya club, which is playing at the Turkish Amputee Football League. They were preparing for a league game when tragedy struck the team.

Before his death, Elvis had been playing for the Abakwa Boys Amputee Football Club, Bamenda.
