About 20 motorbikes and close to 10 cars have been destroyed today in Kumbo, Bui Division in the North West region.

The soldiers, locals say stormed the town today June 25th at about 9:30AM in three armored cars.

They stepped down and began firing their guns at Squares, a kilometre away from the Banso Baptist Hospital.

A source says they “… drove from the Northern end of the Kumbo Town Squares and started shooting indiscriminately at buildings, shops, cars and bikes parked along the road”.

“They drove their cars and crushed vegetables and food items. They also shot at gallons of fuel sellers, fired towards the Kumbo Cathedral and looted from open shops” our source reveals.

Scared, shop owners and the local population in general dashed away for safety. This however did not end the unexplained rage expressed by the soldiers.

Returning after the chaos, they realised the soldiers wreaked more havoc before going away.

“… They chopped full watermelons into pieces, took some and allowed some on the stalls. They also sprayed bullets on the roofs of all houses at Squares” our source states, adding “about 20 bikes were destroyed, over 7 private cars with an armored car and they crushed food items and groceries belonging to local ‘buyam-sellams'” our source adds.

Luckily, no deaths were recorded. It however remains uncertain if anybody was injured.

Today’s scene remains one of several other incidents where civilians have fallen victim to the raging war between separatist fighters and government forces. Though thousands have been reported dead and hundreds of thousands displaced, the war seems long from over as the belligerents are yet to agree on a ceasefire.
