Driver shot by separatists in Donga Mantung, NW Region, Cameroon

A public transport driver is reportedly responding to treatment in a health facility in Ndu after being shot by suspected Ambazonia Separatist fighters.
He was attacked around ‘Kihfe’ a locality in Ndu, Donga Mantung division of the North West region.
The incident occurred Tuesday, July 11, 2023, after armed separatists blocked the Nkambe-Ndu road.
The said stretch has been a nightmare to road users owing to its deplorable state.
Road users are reported to spend days on the road before reaching their destinations.
However, the blockage MMI learned is rather connected to the continuous disrespect of the usual Monday ghost in Nkambe, headquarters of the Donga-Mantung division.
“Amba fighters in the area have blocked the road to punish Nkambe for not adhering to the weekly ghost towns of Mondays,” a source told MMI.
According to our source “A driver who plys the stretch from Nkambe was attacked at Kife and shot in the hand. He was rushed to a nearby health facility where he is responding to treatment”
It is not known when the road blockage will be lifted.
Passengers are stranded as there is no alternative road at the moment
This is the fourth stretch blocked in the North West region by the fighters recently.
It should be noted that Bamenda Ndop, Bamenda-Boyo, and Bamenda Mbengwi have all been blocked for several weeks and counting.
