Youth of some communities in Douala have threatened to go violent as a vast portion of land in the area is being grabbed.
Speaking during a demonstration this week, one of the irate youth threatened that “we are ready to take up arm to defend our land,”.
The man who is said to be a native of Deido Douala had joined hundreds to take part in a huge protest this week.
He went in to highlight how the police brutality and the marginalisation against the people in Douala, led to the escalation of the Anglophone Crisis.
“The Conflict in the North West and South West (NOSO) Regions started this way, you will have to kill us all, because we are not giving up on our land,” he stressed.
Douala residents took to the streets on Thursday to protest against the “misappropriation of their land” by a renowned businessman.
They were teargassed and suppressed by security forces.
No civilian was shot or injured during the protest.
Could a protest of this magnitude have been void of shootings or arrests if the organisers were Anglophones or members of the opposition?
