Dubai: Cameroonians earmarked for deportation

A first set of Cameroonians earmarked for deportation from Dubai have allegedly already been sent back home.

Reports say a host of other Cameroon citizens are locked up in various prisons across the United Arab Emirates pending repatriation back to Cameroon.

The first set of deportees includes two girls said to have been on the black list of the UAE after committing crimes which dishonour the Kingdom.

The deportees have complained incessantly for not having been told the crimes which they have committed, stating that they have done no wrong in Dubai and the UAE as a whole.

Most of them who were arbitrarily taken away from their accomodation centers by the Dubai police complain that they have been stripped off every right and property for days now.

One of them has further expressed the concert of being void of even transportation money that reunite her with the family upon return home.

A crackdown on Africans in the UAE and especially Cameroonians has heightened in recent times, particularly after a Cameroonian brutally murdered his compatriots in Bahrain barely a day after landing in the country with a work permit.

Though many Cameroonians have viewed this recent crackdown as racial discrimination, the Arabian authorities believe it is a means of maintaining security within their region.
