Elite 1 Champions, PWD Bamenda, set for maiden clash with Libya’s Alahli In Tripoli

Team PWD arrived Tripoli at 5:30 pm Monday evening, ahead of their double friendlies against Al Ahli Tripoli on Wednesday and Saturday.
Affectionately referred to as the Abakwa Boys, the winners of Cameroon’s Elite 1 Championship, PWD Football Club of Bamenda, has travelled to Libya for their first out-of-the-country friendly match.

The players left Cameroon for Tripoli on Sunday night for this first-ever international friendly.

They will face Al Ahli Tripoli on November 18 and 21 at the Tripoli International Stadium.

PWD drew with South Africa’s giants, Kaizer Chiefs, on November 9 during the CAF Champions League preliminary round draw in Cairo.

Since winning Cameroon’s top football Championship, Elite 1, in May this year, PWD of Bamenda has remained in the line light of club football in Cameroon, making unbeatable strides under coach David Pagou.

After the encounter with Kaizer Chiefs, Coach Pagou said it was a difficult draw but they didn’t have a choice.

The club won, for the first time in its history, Cameroon’s top football league after outshining former champions Coton Sport of Garoua in the league that ended abruptly due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Abakwa boys will represent Cameroon, for the first time, at the CAF Championship.
