Elite Two Football: AS Lausanne fans beat up referee, accuse him of fraud following 2-1 loss against FC Rangers of Bafut

There were dramatic scenes at the Olembe stadium yesterday as fans of the AS Lausanne Football Club beat up a referee after accusing him of fraud.

This was following an MTN Elite Two match that took place yesterday Wednesday, April 27, 2023, between AS Lausanne of Yaounde and FC Rangers of Bafut in which the hosts were defeated 2-1.

Angered by the win, fans of Lausanne, immediately after the match turned to the referee and attacked him physically. According to them, the referee had collected bribes to rule in favor of their opponents.

Reacting to the incident, the Unisport President in an interview had the following to say: “Is this President Eto’o’s championship? I am ashamed and I pity Cameroon.”

The Cameroon Football Federation headed by Samuel Eto’o is however yet to react to the incident.

The condition of the referee is unknown by MMI at the moment.
