Cameroonian filmmakers, entertainers celebrate cultural diversity, social cohesion at Film Festival

The organiser of CAMIFF, Agbor Gilbert believes the cultural festival should bring positive change among entertainers

Cameroonian filmmakers, comedians, musicians and cinema lovers converged on Buea Mountain for the Cameroon International Film Festival, CAMIFF.

The weeklong event which started on Monday, was an occasion for the entertainers to celebrate the country’s rich culture through a “Cultural Night” that featured an array of cultural displays on Wednesday, April 26.

The festival’s organiser Agbor Gilbert believes CAMIFF is an occasion to not only celebrate and promote the Cameroon Film Industry, but also to build social cohesion.

Several entertainers, especially from the English-speaking regions of the country, kept the cultural night lively through comedy, singing and dancing.

Among them was popular musician KO-C, and comedians like Senior Pastor, Caro and Copees, Richard, Aunty Felicia, among others.

Clad in various shades of traditional regalia, they accompanied dozens of actors and actresses in showcasing Cameroon’s diverse cultures and how they can coexist.

The CAMIFF organisers say part of the festival’s goals is to promote nation branding by blending culture and cinema.

Agbor Gilbert says CAMIFF is an “instrument to bringing positive change” in the country.

He is working with Cameroon’s Ministry of Arts and Culture, UNESCO and UNDP to promote culture and social cohesion through CAMIFF.
