Rapper and music producer, Ndukong Godlove aka Jovi has called out political singer, Valsero over his latest outing regarding the music industry.
Jovi took to Facebook to warn the artist against mentioning his name and using the Anglophone Crisis for popularity.
Valsero had taken to social media earlier to criticize artists over what he said was the neglect of one of theirs, Mr Shyne following his recent arrest and detention at the New Bell prison in Douala.
Among those the singer mentioned, was Jovi who is known to have addressed the Anglophone crisis in some of his works.
Jovi and his fan base known to be the largest in the country’s entertainment sphere, did not take kindly to the accusations.
In response to Valsero, Jovi said the artist was oblivious of the travails of Anglophone artists in Cameroon.
Prior to the armed conflict in the Anglophone regions, Valsero, he added, had never used pidgin or English language in any of his songs, though Anglophone artists had always been compelled to use French to belong.
“… If English-speaking artists are respected today, it is partly because of what I have accomplished…” Jovi said.
The recent conflict comes as a surprise to many, given the high level of esteem they are known to have held each other in. Jovi, it should be recalled, had in one of his songs paid homage to Valsero among others.
Valsero’s verbal attack on artists follows the arrest and detention of Mr Shyne in Douala. Reports say the detained singer’s mother based in Belgium has denied claims her son was using a stolen car, which necessitared his arrest. He however remains in detention.
