Fally Ipupa, the Congolese superstar, is suing a journalist for defamation.

Fally Ipupa, a renowned Congolese musician, filed a legal complaint against Congolese journalist Gauthier Sey, accusing him of defamation.

The Kinshasa Peace Court will hear the case today. Sey reportedly made several derogatory statements about Ipupa during a programme on national television, accusing him of fraudulently acquiring a Gold Record in France, as Ipupa says.

During the programme that aired on Radio Television Nationale Congolaise, the journalist reportedly labelled Fally Ipupa as a liar and a forger.

Gauthier Sey reportedly stated, “Fally Ipupa does not have a contract with Vivendi. He cannot sing in the presence of other artists during a rehearsal, and he fraudulently obtained a false Gold record in France.”

The King of Rumba’s lawyer took legal action and filed a complaint against Sey on Friday, September 1, at the Kinshasa Peace Court.

Patrimoine, a Facebook user, commented, “Sometimes, people grow when they have the maturity to accept the truth, even if it hurts.”

Meanwhile, Vergani Mutombo says, “Fally’s lie is normal because it feeds people, and helps others.”

The Kinshasa court expects the two men to attend today’s first hearing of the case.

Who is Fally?
