At least 120kgs of Marijuana have been impounded by elements of the Gendarmerie Legion in Kousseri, in the Far North Region from traffickers.
Stacked in six bags, the drug was seized in a raid carried out by the Gendarmerie in the Babou area, in the Madagascar neighborhood of Kousseri.
According to Gendarmerie sources, the raid was carried out following a report made from an agent in the area after due investigations.
“We got the hint of a huge consignment of dried Indian hemp which was being trafficked by a network in the Region. An investigation was immediately launched with the cooperation of the population and our informant being able to locate where the drugs were being stored, ” said a Gendarmerie officer.
The huge consignment of Indian hemp and marijuana seized by the Gendarmes has been handed over to the competent authorities of the region.
Security agents have equally called on the population to continue cooperating with law enforcement agents as regards stopping illicit drug trafficking in the region.
