Some 150 wild elephants are reported to have invaded the Guissia locality, in Mayo Danay in the Far North Region of Cameroon.
These wild beasts have terrorized the population and left a lot of destruction along their path.
The elephants are said to have camped in the village. Villagers have been forced out of their houses, for fear of imminent attacks from the Elephants.
“We are forced to leave the premises, otherwise we and our children could find ourselves in permanent danger,” said a native of the village.
The animals have also destroyed some crops cultivated by the villagers. Some houses have also been damaged by the elephants, rendering the owners homeless.
Inhabitants affected by the elephant invasion say they are no longer sure whom to turn to or where to go to.
Nevertheless, authorities are working endlessly to bring the situation under control.
