Far North:
Eight arrested in Mora for dealing drugs

Eight drug dealers have been apprehended by forces of law and order in Mora, Far North Region of Cameroon.

After systematic searches organized by the police, seven people, all young people under 30, were arrested. The products they traffic in are mind-altering. Among others, cannabis, tramadol and many other doping products.

The defendants are expected to be brought before the courts of Mayo-Sava next Monday to answer the charges against them.

The city it should be noted, has of recent been plagued by multiple security and youth delinquency issues, often linked to hard drug consumption.

The advent of Boko Haram has since plunged the Mayo Division Sava into terror. Hostage-taking with ransom demands, armed robberies, suicide attacks, and many others are on the increase.

According to information obtained from traditional and religious authorities in the Division, many young people have joined the sect of Boko Haram as a result of lack of work.

Data from the same sources revealed that 64% of young people are involved in aggression, aggravated theft and drug use.

The police, therefore, decided to clean up the town of Mora, leading to the said arrests.

Roger Saffo, the Senior Divisional Officer of the Mayo-Sava Division took the opportunity to draw the attention of his constituents to the dangers of the drug.
