Farmer/Grazier Conflict: Nwa subdivision faces another attack

Close to a dozen houses have been set ablaze in Yamba North Village in Nwa Subdivision, Donga Mantung Division in the North West Region of Cameroon.

Residents speaking from their hideouts in bushes to some elites of the subdivision have laid blames on Fulani herdsmen coming from the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

To victims, the Fulanis armed with local weapons invaded the community on the night of Thursday, March 4th, and caused havoc.

This is the second attack of a village in Nwa subdivision by people villagers say are people from Fulani tribe in Nigeria. The government of Cameroon has not issued any official statement to what many see as an invasion and therefore demands administrative and diplomatic intervention. In a release from the US embassy this week, it calls on the government to investigate the conflict and look for ways to restore peace.

Reliable sources say they have been long-standing farmers/grazers conflict in the locality for over a decade.

Following the frequent attacks, many people have fled Nwa subdivision not because of the anglophone crisis but because of the farmers/grazers conflict.

Meantime, fons from the subdivision following a release this week are to hold a crisis meeting in Bakim in Adamawa region to discuss possible peace.
