The government of Cameroon has stepped up security in almost all busy junctions in Yaounde, ahead of the official proclamation of results, of the October 7th presidential election.
It is in line with Section 137 of Cameroon’s Electoral Code which States:

“The Constitutional Council shall adopt and proclaim the results of the presidential election within no more than15 (fifteen) days of the
close of the poll”.

The president of the said council, Clement ATANGANA has set aside Monday, October 22, 2018 as the day for the proclamation of results of the October 7 poll.

As tension mounts in Cameroon’s major cities ahead of result proclamation, thorough check of ID cards are currently being intensified in streets in Yaounde, Cameroon’s political capital.

In some of the places MMI toured so far today like Obili, Carrefour MECC, Cite’ Vert, Melen, Carriee’ and many others, police and anti riot vehicles could be seen stationed around.

ID cards are systematically being checked. Yesterday evening, national gendarmerie patrol cars were spotted around chapel Obili and other areas.
