Incumbent FECAFOOT President, Seidou Mbombo Njoya and Samuel Eto’o Fils are reported to have been invited to a meeting with CAF and FIFA representatives in Kinshasa, DRC yesterday.

In the meeting, Samuel Eto’o is said to have been urged by the FIFA and CAF representatives to withdraw his candidacy for the upcoming FECAFOOT elections and support Seidou Mbombo Njoya.

Eto’o is believed to have categorically refused to do so and maintained his determination to submit his candidacy for the election next Wednesday.

This revelation comes after some speculations of a possible dissolution of FECAFOOT by the President of the Republic. According to popular French Magazine Jeune Afrique, President Paul has plans laid out to possibly dissolve the Cameroon Football Federation, albeit under two separate circumstances.

Firstly, should the Indomitable Lions qualify for the FIFA 2022 world cup, then the elections will be allowed to hold in December, and the new leadership tasked with managing the AFCON and the World Cup.

Secondly, should the Indomitable Lions fail to qualify, FECAFOOT will be dissolved after the AFCON tournament, and the elections will be delayed.
