The members of the Executive Committee of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) have reaffirmed their total confidence and unwavering support for the federation’s president, Samuel Eto’o.

This comes after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that it would be investigating Eto’o’s work as president of FECAFOOT after he was accused of misconduct by some key executives of the federation.

The FECAFOOT Executive Committee released a statement on Friday, strongly condemning the attacks against Eto’o and expressing their support for him in these difficult times. The committee also expressed confidence that Eto’o will clear his name and lead FECAFOOT to greater heights.

Accusers have accused Eto’o of a number of things, including embezzling funds, awarding contracts to friends and family members, and mismanaging the federation. However, he denies all of the allegations and claims to be the victim of a smear campaign.

The CAF is currently investigating, and it is still too early to determine the outcome. However, the FECAFOOT Executive Committee’s statement of support for Eto’o clearly indicates that they believe in his innocence and stand behind him.

The executives of the Federation said, “We are surprised and outraged by such an allegation, which attempts to undermine the prestige of our continental football.”

We declare these allegations as false. The FECAFOOT Executive Committee stated, “We, the members of the executive committee, reiterate our total support and confidence in the president of the federation regarding all these accusations.”

After receiving allegations of misconduct from some of the federation’s top executives, CAF revealed in a press release on August 9, 2023, that it would be looking into Eto’o’s work as president of FECAFOOT. The allegations against Eto’o include embezzling funds, awarding contracts to friends and family members, and mismanaging the federation.

The Man Eto’o

FECAFOOT elected Samuel Eto’o as President in December 2021. He was a former Cameroonian international footballer who is widely considered one of the greatest African footballers of all time. He won the African Footballer of the Year award four times, and he holds the record for being the all-time leading scorer for the Cameroon national team.

Many people saw Eto’o’s election as President of FECAFOOT as a major turning point for Cameroonian football. He made a promise to reform the federation and make Cameroonian football more competitive. He has also promised to enhance the financial situation of the federation and to promote football in rural areas.

Eto’o has experienced a number of difficulties during his first year in office. Some quarters have criticised him for his handling of the federation’s finances. However, he has also achieved significant progress in a number of areas, including restructuring FECAFOOT and improving the federation’s relationship with FIFA.

The Executive Committee’s reaffirmation of support gives a major boost to Eto’o. It demonstrates that the people who matter most in Cameroonian football back him. It also communicates a message to his critics that he will not easily be deterred from his mission to reform FECAFOOT and achieve success in Cameroonian football.
