FECAFOOT sidelines PWD Bamenda from continental Football

Officials of the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT, have sidelined the defending champions of Cameroon from participating in CAF inter-club competitions for the 2021/2022 football season.

This comes after the federation submitted the names of Fovu Club of Baham and Cotonsport of Garoua to represent Cameroon at the CAF champions league and Confederation cup respectively.

With the Cameroon football league still on, one of CAF’s directives indicated that, representatives of last season can be sent to represent the country.

FECAFOOT however decided to go in for the current leaders of Pool A and B of the ongoing championship, a decision that hasn’t gone down well with supporters of PWD Social Football Club of Bamenda.

Some have expressed the belief they have been cheated of their right to play continental football for the second time.

Officials of PWD Bamenda are yet to make any official statement regarding the issue.

In a communique from the Communication department of the Cameroon Football Federation, FECAFOOT, the decision was arrived at after an emergency meeting of the Executive Committee. The committee agreed that, the winner of the cup of Cameroon shall represent the country in the CAF confederations cup during the 2022/2023 football season.

PWD Social Football Club of Bamenda and Astres of Douala will play the finals of the 2021 cup of Cameroon. The date is yet to be announced.
