Rebecca Enonchong, Cameroon’s prolific tech entrepreneur will be spending her third night at a Douala Gendarmerie cell today. Her arrest on Tuesday has continued to spark online indignation – with many adding their voices to call for her immediate release. The State Prosecutor has still not received her lawyers who have requested for an audience.


Diplomats have joined the hashtag #FreeRebecca campaign. The French, Canadian Ambassadors to Cameroon, took on twitter to call for her release.


Meantime, there is an online petition, calling for the immediate and unconditional release of the arrested Tech Entrepreneur, Rebecca Enonchong.


Two persons have been reported dead in the PK13 neighbourhood in Douala, after a house collapsed. The house fell while they were assleep during last night’s excessive rainfall.

President Paul Biya has decreed Monday 16 August as a public holiday in Cameroon. The day is being commemorated as the Catholic feast of Assumption which falls on Sunday August 15, 2021.


Group trekking has become the new normal in the North West region. Travellers to Boyo, Bui, Ngohketunja and Ndonga Mantung as well as Bali now organise group trekking to access the Divisions after Seperatists’ blockage. The blockage sognisifes another hold up between the Separatists and government forces.


Residents in the Divisions of the North West region say local administration has drifted away from them as they now need to travel to up station, Bamenda to obtain a birth certificate. Most councils they say, have relocated to the area because of insecurity.


A majority of schools bracing up for the new school year in the North West region are mostly private and denominational schools. Most government schools remain shut in the Divisions as the armed conflict rages on.
