The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has suspended eight players from the 2023 Yaounde Interpoules tournament over allegations of age and identity fraud. The players, who were all competing for different teams, were found to be over the age limit of 20 years old or to have used false identities.

The decision is contained in a release signed by Blaise Djounang, the Secretary-General of FECAFOOT.

FECAFOOT’s decision to suspend the players was made after a thorough investigation by the federation’s disciplinary committee. The committee found that the players had falsified their age or identity in order to be eligible to compete in the tournament.

The suspension of the eight players is a serious blow to the 2023 Yaounde Interpoules tournament. The tournament is a prestigious event that is held every two years and is seen as a major stepping stone for young Cameroonian footballers.

The decision, however, has been applauded by many who feel this will send a clear message that the federation will not tolerate age and identity fraud.

The federation is committed to ensuring that the 2023 Yaounde Interpoules tournament is played fairly and that only eligible players are allowed to compete.
