Female Medic Kidnapped In Douala, Hefty Ransom Demanded

A female medical practitioner, Dr Dissongo Olivia was kidnapped and whisked to an unknown destination on April 6th 2022.

Her kidnappers have demanded 200 million francs as ransom.

The state media reported that the female medical practitioner was kidnapped by three unidentified men around the Douala international Airport who later on sent a picture of the victim to the family.

It is not known whether the kidnappers have other motives.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Cameroon’s Minister of Public Health, Dr Manaouda Malachie confirmed the kindnapping and said: “…we are ensuring that everything is done to find her as soon as possible.”

This incident is just one of many, depicting the worsening insecurity in Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon.
