Fifteen from same family die traveling to welcome relative from Hajj – Mecca

By Amina Hilda

Fifteen members of a family have perished in a ghastly accident in Pitoa, Garoua in the North Region of Cameroon.

The family members were on their way to welcome one of their relative from Mecca on Sunday, July 9, 2023, when the tragic incident occurred. Their relative was expected to arrive Cameroon after the Hajj.

“Among the deceased were several children,” stated a source who lamented the unavailability of ambulances in the area.

“I am convinced if there was an ambulance in the locality, most of the victims would have survived this incident,” he went on.

The deceased family members have been laid to rest as it is required by the Muslim tradition.

This comes just weeks after 15 members of another family died in Edea as they were going to a funeral.
