Fight Against Crime: Leader of “Les Microbes” apprehended in Douala

The fight against the notorious gang in the city of Douala known as “Les Microbes” may have taken a positive turn with the recent arrest of the gang’s main leader.

This gang is known for its fearless attacks in broad daylight on citizens of the economic capital. They terrorize locals and loot property without any fear of police intervention.

Following a correspondence sent out by the Senior Divisional Officer for Wouri Division, the forces of law and order have carried out several operations to apprehend members of this gang.

On April 28, after several searches at the Makepe, Bonamoussadi and Bonangang neighborhoods, the 26-year-old gang leader was arrested, as well as six other members of the group.

During the search, the forces of law and order were equally able to recover certain stolen goods from the criminals such as two gas cylinders, three matresses, two 32 -inches plasma screens, a fan, a sound amplifier, a laptop, a DVD player, a water heater andba dagger. Some hard drugs such as Indian hemp, 23 packets of drugs (pebbles) and 44 packets of Indian hemp were equally found in the possession of these criminals.

The gang members have been transferred to the Akwa North Gendarmerie Brigade where investigations are continuing. The Gendarmes meanwhile are on the hunt for more of the gang members around the city who are on the run ever since the operation to track them down was initiated.
