In an unending battle by forces of law and order to curb the consumption and trafficking of illicit drugs from circulating in capital city, Yaoundé, gendarmerie officers of the Tsinga Gendarmerie Brigade launched an operation around the town. They arrested over five persons believed to be seasoned drug traffickers.
According to The Guardian Post Newspaper, these individuals were arrested in possession of a good quantity of marijuana. The suspects were reportedly arrested as the gendarmes took their operation to the Briqueterie neighborhood in Yaoundé.
It is believed that the operation was launched after an anonymous report was sent to the gendarmerie of a vibrant operation of narcotic sales going on in the neighborhood.
“We recieved a report on a group of dealers specialized in the trafficking of drugs in the town and during a search in the zone, five suspects were arrested including a lady,” revealed a
gendarmerie source.
It is believed that the arrested suspects are largely responsible for most of the drug operations that are being carried out in the vicinity.
Apart from the marijuana retrieved, the gendarmerie elements were equally able to seize 23 sachets of Cocaine, 11 Cannabis balls, 11 mobile phones as well as the sum of 41,000FCFA.
