Final Candidates for PCC Moderator, Synod Clerk Known

By Claude Kenfack

The Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) is entering the final stage of its leadership elections following a decisive second round of voting held at the ongoing Synod Committee meeting in Buea.

The process, conducted under the theme, “The Synod of Assurance,” has narrowed the race to two candidates for each key position—Moderator and Synod Clerk—who will face off in the ultimate vote scheduled for Monday, November 18, 2024.

Final Candidates for Moderator

The race for the coveted position of Moderator has advanced with two candidates moving forward: Rev Miki Hans (104 votes), the incumbent Synod Clerk, and Rev Njongai Polycarp (51 votes).

Unfortunately, Rev. Numfor Godwin, who received fewer votes, has been eliminated from the race.

They are competing to replace Rt Rev Fonki Samuel Forba, who has served two mandates of five years each.

Rev Fonki is being remembered for advancing infrastructural, economic and social development in the PCC, inaugurating several structures for the Church.

Final Candidates for Synod Clerk

For the role of Synod Clerk, the competition now stands between Rev. Ayuk Solomon Etta (82 votes) and Rev. Mokoko Simon Elive (52 votes).

Rev. Mokoko Mbue Thomas, with 16 votes, has been eliminated.

Looking Ahead to Monday

The final stage of the elections will take place during the Synod meeting on Monday, November 18, 2024.

Members of the church eagerly anticipate this momentous event, as the elections will usher in a new era of leadership for the PCC.

With the outgoing Moderator, Rt. Rev. Dr. Fonki Samuel Forba, presiding over his last Synod, the theme, “The Synod of Assurance”, continues to resonate as the church seeks steadfast and visionary leaders to guide its mission.
