Five men are being detained by security forces in Yokadouma in the East region of Cameroon. They are accused of exhuming a corpse for what was believed to be ritualistic purposes.
Reports say the men were arrested after a set up by security officials whom they thought were people in need of human parts.
“We arranged and contacted them and they demanded the sum of 8 million FCFA to exhume a corpse and give us the bones. But after numerous negotiations they accepted the sum of 3 million FCFA and a date was fixed for them to give us the goods,” The Guardian Post newspaper quotes a source as saying.
The paper reports that the recent arrest is not the first of its kind, adding that human bone trafficking has been on the rise.
