Five scammers, drug dealers arrested in Yaoundé

Five Scammers and drug dealers have been arrested by elements of the First Gendarmerie Region in Yaounde.

The arrests took place on August 5, 2022.

Aged between 22 and 32, the fraudsters were apprehended in the Nkomo neighborhood, precisely in “Nelly Bar”, in Yaounde, at about 10:00 am.

According to the National Gendarmerie officials, the raid was carried out, “after repeated cases of assaults in the Yaounde 4 Subdivision.”

32.50 grams of cocaine, weapons, cannabis, and sim cards, among others, found in their possession were equally seized. A cannabis farm belonging to them was also discovered and destroyed.

In a Facebook post, the National Gendarmerie wrote: “After questioning, it was found that these are the perpetrators of the “Calling-Calling” scam, which involves making calls with foreign and coded numbers in order to extort Cameroonians.”

Meanwhile, investigations are currently ongoing at the Central Criminal Investigation Service.
