Floods in Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon have left a toddler and a 40-year-old man dead in the Bonaberi and Makepe neighborhoods respectively.

The two deaths resulted from heavy rainfall in the town of Douala on Saturday, July 22, 2023.

The first case of death is a child of one year, 5 months. The waters carried him away while the parents were away. His body was later found and retrieved.

The second death occurred in Makepè missokè. The 40-year-old commercial motorcycle rider whose name we got as Achille Feudjio tried to preserve the property in the house with his wife and neighbors as his house flooded.

He was electrocuted while unplugging the TV cable barefoot.

He gave up the ghost a few moments after being transferred to a nearby health center.

While the rainy season is just beginning, the worst is feared next August in the economic capital of Cameroon.

This comes a few days after heavy rainfall caused landslides in Limbe, killing a woman and her grandson.
