His Royal Highness, Fon Ngum IV, the reigning Fon of Oku in the North West Region of Cameroon, has shared the joyous news of welcoming his first son. The traditional ruler took to his official Facebook page on the evening of Tuesday, November 21, 2023, to make the heartwarming announcement.
The Fon of Oku expressed his pride in the post, stating, “Blessed with a Baby Boy…I proudly announce the arrival of a newborn baby prince in my family.”
The news of the new addition to the royal family sparked celebrations, particularly among Cameroonians with ties to Oku. Tah Kenette, in a reaction to the Fon’s post, wrote, “HRM, the joy in our hearts is unthinkable. May the Almighty keep blessing the Royal Family of Oku.”
Another Facebook user, Shey Woo, commented, “Long live my King, you shall see your generation upon generations. Welcome, my prince.”
Fon Ngum IV ascended to the throne on May 12, 2021, following the “disappearance” of His Royal Highness Sintieh II Ngum Martin Yuosembom I on May 6, 2021. His reign has been marked by the challenges posed by armed individuals in his community advocating for the secession of the English-speaking part of Cameroon.
Despite the ongoing unrest in the Anglophone regions, Fon Ngum IV, on Friday, July 21, 2023, reaffirmed his commitment to peace. In a Facebook post, he urged for unity, saying, “It’s time we all realized that life is beautiful, and people in our world make it so beautiful. Let’s make peace and finish this energy war. People are beautiful, and all are souls at the end of it.”
The birth of Fon Ngum IV’s first son comes a year and a few months after the arrival of his first female child, marking another significant milestone in the royal family’s lineage.
