Fonfuka locals replace bridge on river Nguma swept away by heavy rains

By David Atangana

The people of Fonfuka, capital of Bum Subdivision in Boyo division of the North West region have rekindled the spirit of community development.

Feeling abandoned by the government, the population August 8, 2022 came out in their numbers in a joint effort to put up a local bridge over river Nguma, to reinstate circulation.

This, MMI learnt, was after heavy rains destroyed the bridge cutting links between communities.

“… Efforts by the people of Fonfuka-Bum to reconstruct a new bridge over the river Nguma after heavy rains on 8/8/2022 carried away the bridge” a local told MMI

With the use of wood, the bridge was successfully put up, to the joy and satisfaction the population

“Fonfuka is one of those villages in the region largely neglected by the Biya regime” a local taking part in the community exercise lamented.

Though the bridge has been reinstated, MMI, learnt, its sustainability hangs on a scale given that only motorcycles and pedestrians can make use of it.
