In a story unheard of anywhere around the football world, the national team coach, Uruguayan born António Conceição was booted out of the No1 Annex Stadium in Yaoundé and prevented from watching an Elite One encounter match between AS Fortuna and Avion du Nkam.
Much to the displeasure of the footballers and the fans during the game, a police raid interrupted flow of the game on the side of the spectators, with the law enforcement agents forcing everyone out of the stadium for a check.
The national team coach in attendance was also forced out of attendance. It was only after some strong protests by the authorities of the stadium that the police, who had bundled the coach out, tried pleading for him to return to the stand.
Angered by what had happened, Coach Conceção declined and left.
The game which apparently went uninterrupted ended in a 2-0 victory in favor of AS Fortuna.
