The former Synod Clerk of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, Rev. Babila Fochang has warned that failures by the protagonist in the current sociopolitical unrest to compromise will only further deteriorate the security situation in the anglophone regions.

He says they should soften what he describes as a hardened position that hinders the prospects of solving the crisis.

The man of God, who is also the current Pastor of PC Upstation Bamenda warns that failure by both parties to compromise will only further deteriorate the volatile security situations in the two English-speaking regions of Cameroon.

He noted that for those in power to resolve the crisis, there must be a shift in position to say that you cannot insist that Cameroon is one and indivisible and no other opinion counts.

“You cannot also insist and say that all we want is independence and autonomy. Rather there’s a need to shift the positions and satisfy both parties. Because if you want to resolve a conflict, you cannot maintain your position”, Rev. Babila Fochang said.

For five years and counting now, the political situation remains tense and peace efforts have become strong but the crisis isn’t showing any sign of getting to an end.
