The former Secretary General of the Social Democratic Front, Jean Tsomelou has rejected his new appointment as head of the Agriculture Commission, recently attributed to him by the party.
It was in a note signed today Friday June 17 that the former SG made his intentions known.
He began by thanking party’s chairman Ni John Fru Ndi as he said, “I thank the Chairman Ni John FRU NDI for the trust placed in my modest person during the past five years.”
He went further to wish well to the newly installed secetary general, Adeline Njomgang, alongside every other person who according to him has “kindly accompanied” him during the past five years.
He indicated that, “out of respect for my previous functions and that of Rapporteur of the Ministerial Council of the Shadow Cabinet, I have decided to decline this appointment.”
However, it is not yet known whether the decision was instigated by other factors aside the above mentioned. Many believe however that the politician feels humiliated, given that the new position assigned him is more of a demotion.
