Four suspected kidnappers arrested in Garoua

Four suspected kidnappers have been arrested in Garoua of the North region.

The suspects were nabbed by the elements of the Garoua 3 Gendarmerie company in the North Region.

According to sources, the individuals were specialized in abducting locals and taking refuge in the bushes of Dore and Kokora villages to demand huge ransom from the families.

The kidnappers were arrested thanks to an operation carried out by security forces in Dore Village where the hideout of the former was found.

“This operation led to the arrest of four alleged kidnappers, including the suspected gang leader who lived in this village,” the National Gendarmerie indicated.

Military uniforms and sandals, bladed weapons, cell phones, SIM cards, and gris-gris amongst others were equally discovered in the course of the operation by the security forces.

During the preliminary investigations, the said kidnappers reportedly confessed their crimes, indicating that other perpetrators, armed with AK47 rifles are still at large.

They have been kept in custody at the Garoua 3 Gendarmerie, pending their referral to the military State Counsel in order to be held accountable.
