Four women arrested in connection with Martinez Zogo’s murder freed

The State Secretariat for Defence released four women, including Yvana Bidjang, wife of detained Vision 4 manager Bruno Bidjang, who had been detained in connection with the murder of Martinez Zogo.

The four women:
Ivana Essomba Bidjang, Staphanie Boulemou, Director of Vision Finance, Ines Belinga, communication director of l’Anecdote Media Group, and Valerie Bibanga were released on February 13.

They were arrested on February 9 as part of investigations to uncover killers of radio journalist Martinez Zogo, who was abducted and gruesomely murdered last month in Yaounde.

Among several people arrested as part of investigations to track down Zogo’s killers is media mogul, Amougou Belinga, who was arrested alongside his father-in-law Raymond Etoundi Nsoe, a former commander of Cameroon’s Presidential Guard and Bruno Bidjang, Manager of Vision 4 television owned by Belinga.

Other high ranking Government officials implicated in the case include the head of the Directorate for External Research, Maxime Eko Eko, who was arrested earlier this month after a confession made by Justin Danwe, one his subordinates, linked him to the journalist’s murder.

The Cameroon government said several persons had been arrested in line with the journalist’s murder, which has prompted calls for the protection of journalists in the country.
