West Region: Well digger dies due to suffocation

A well digger has reportedly died after suffocating in a borehole in Kongso, a locality in Bamoungoum, West Region of Cameroon.

The victim who hails from the North West region entered 18 meters deep into the well with the motor pump to empty the well before he got suffocated from the carbon dioxide, MMI has gathered.

While attempting to save the latter, his colleague who equally hails from the North West Region got suffocated but was rescued by the population.

Latest reports have it that the colleague of the deceased is currently under intensive care at a medical facility in the locality.

The Divisional Officer of the subdivision, the brigade commander, firefighters, a doctor and the head of the Kwongso clan, accompanied by the heads of the Kwongso2 and Kwongso1 quarters on the scene for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation .
