Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) powerhouse Francis Ngannou recently delved into his views on marriage during an appearance on the “Shay Shay” podcast on CNC. When questioned about settling down, Ngannou responded candidly, revealing that marriage is not currently a priority in his life.

“Right now, I don’t think about it,” admitted Ngannou. He continued by saying that his initial motivation for getting married was a desire to leave a lasting legacy before leaving his native Cameroon and entering an uncertain future.

“I remember when I left Cameroon, what I wanted most was to have kids,” shared Ngannou. “Because I did not know where I was going, so I wanted to leave a legacy behind. Someone they can remember for; like there was a Francis.”

However, the harsh reality of his circumstances quickly shifted his focus. “My reason for thinking about marriage was just to have a baby. After that, my condition became very bad. I was not thinking about women, but how to get out of my situation and make it better.”

As the years passed, Ngannou found himself increasingly dedicated to his career, leaving little room for thoughts of marriage. “This keeps rolling in the same way,” he explained. “Then you realise it’s already been 8 years; it’s been 10 years, but you don’t feel like it’s something that you want.”

Despite societal pressures in Ngannou’s native Africa, he remains steadfast in his current stance. “Even though, in Africa, they’ve been pushing me even before I left Cameroon,” he revealed. “Before I left for the first time, my grandfather wanted me to get married at the age of 20. Not to just get married to one girl but to multiple. Out there, it’s normal.”

Addressing rumours about the paternity of the two children Ngannou presented to Cristiano Ronaldo a few days before his fight in Riyadh, Ngannou remains focused on his career and personal journey.

Ngannou’s openness and honesty about his personal life provide a rare glimpse into the thoughts and motivations of a world-renowned athlete. By sharing his story, he encourages others to embrace their individual journeys and not succumb to societal expectations.

After his fight with Tyson Fury, Francis Ngannou has gained admiration worldwide, particularly from women, with even Kim Kardashian expressing her admiration for the superstar.
