Francis Ngannou wins Africa’s first UFC 260 Heavyweight title

In a brutal rematch of the 2018 Heavyweight fight with Stipe Miocic, Francis Nganou against all odds, showed to the world that his defeat back in the day was just a fluke and that he is indeed UFC260’s deserving Heavyweight Champion.

Unlike the pair’s first encounter in 2018 where Nganou got lessoned by the experience and patience of then Heavyweight Champion, Stipe Miocic, who dominated and eventually won the fight, it was an exact opposite last night.

Nganou’s devastating punches and stamina were no match for Stipe Miocic who threw in the towel after just two rounds.

“I don’t know if I can find the vocabulary to express this, but it feels so amazing…” Said Nganou.

“Even though I’ve been winning fights,” he said, “I had this thing inside of me that I never released. It was like a promise that I made to myself since I was young. To prove the doubters and the people that thought I was beneath them that it wasn’t my fault”.

“If I ever had the opportunity, I would do great and even greater and that’s what I’m here for” Nganou added with delight after his victory over Stipe Miocic.

After previously coming up short in his previous to become champion, Francis Nganou can now reap the spoils of his exploits after knocking out his demons to prove himself as indeed the current best Heavyweight Champion in the World.

Ngannou’s victory over Stipe Miocic has set him up with another monstrous fight against Light Heavyweight Champion, Jon Jones in the nearest future.

Ngannou’s brutal victory over favourite Stipe Miocic drew some wild praises and reactions from other UFC fighters on twitter, as many were taken aback by the ease at which Ngannou got his revenge over Stipe.

Aljamain Sterling wrote on Twitter: “That was scary! A fight where I didn’t want either guy to lose. They’re both just great people. #UFC260”.

Some others got thrilled and are highly expectant of the Ngannou vs Jon Jones faceoff. “I’m in for Jones vs Francis ASAP” Funky wrote on his Twitter account.

Others were rather concerned over the shape and capability of Jon Jones in facing Ngannou, comicaly asking the former Light Heavyweight Champion to have a rethink of the faceoff: “If I’m Jon Jones i am heading back to LHW right away. Francis is a scaaaary human being!!!” a fan tweeted.
