Gabriel Jesus scores twice against Leeds to help Arsenal maintain their eight-point lead in the English Premier League.

The wonder of Arsenal’s confident, inevitably resounding victory against Leeds was its banality. The Gunners were smooth enough, scoring four goals and having chances for more, but if they get through the next two months unscathed, it will be quite a feat to recall the highlights of today’s encounter in minute detail.

Nevertheless after thrashing Leeds United, Arsenal regains an eight-point lead at the top of the English Premier League.

While the game was still scoreless, the visitors had chances through Summerville and Harrison, but Ramsdale was there to deny the pair with simple saves.

The Gunners scored against the run of play as they gained momentum. Ayling fouled Jesus in the box, and Jesus took responsibility from the penalty spot, slotting his effort down the middle.

White doubled the home side’s lead just a minute after the restart, getting on the end of Martinelli’s cross and powering in his effort from close range.

Jesus then poked in Trossard’s cross into the box to make it 3-0, before Kristensen’s deflected strike denied Arsenal a clean sheet with Leeds’ lone goal of the game.

However, Arteta’s team extended their lead when Xhaka scored with a header making it 4-1 at the final whistle.

Today’s result means that Leeds has suffered 17 Premier League defeats against Arsenal, the joint-most of any team (also 17 against Liverpool and Man Utd).

For the first time since October 2015, Arsenal has won three consecutive Premier League games by three or more goals.

Manchester City who are behind Arsenal, also won their earlier match against Liverpool with a similar scoreline
