Gatama declares Eto’o’s FECAFOOT mandate irregular, calls for take over

Cameroonian Journalist and Publisher, Guibai Gatama has declared the mandate of the current president of the Cameroon Football Federation, Samuel Eto’o as irregular, asking Céline Eko, first vice president of FECAFOOT to take over.

The L’oeil Du Sahel newspaper publisher made the call in writing to Céline Eko current Vice President of the Federation.

Guibai Gatama, who also is an executive member of FECAFOOT urged Céline Eko to assume the responsibilities of the post of President.

“I have the honor to ask you, as de facto First Vice-President, to kindly take over and assume the functions of interim President of Fecafoot due to the vacancy resulting from the aforementioned conviction mentioned,” he stated.

To Gatama, his request is based on “the sentencing by a Spanish court for tax evasion to a firm prison term of 22 months, of our President, Samuel Eto’o Fils, which unfortunately took place on June 20, 2022.”

He further argued that the mandate of the Eto’o as FECAFOOT president is irregular considering that it has gone against “the application of the statutory provisions of articles 36 (paragraph C and D) and 47 (paragraph 1) of the Statutes of FECAFOOT.”

It should be recalled that some weeks back, a similar case occured where a law firm called for the resignation of Samuel Eto’o, following the sentence by the Spanish Court.
