GCE 2021: North West beats odds, ranks second

After the publication of results of the Cameroon General Certificate of Education, GCE, Examinations, the North West region has been ranked overall second nationwide recording a percentage of 66.34%.

The West region is ranked overall 1st with a percentage of 67.3%.

Meanwhile, the South West region ranked the overall 9th with a percentage of 57.25%.


As regards the performance at the level of the various divisions in the North West region of Cameroon, Bui Division tops the chart in the Ordinary Level with 72.68%, Momo division is second with 63%, third is Boyo with 62%, Menchum is fourth with 60%, fifth is Donga Mantung division with 59%, sixth is Mezam Division with 58% while the Ngoketunjia Division is 7th with 56%.

In the Ordinary Level nationwide, the percentage pass this year stands at 64.04 percent as compared to 67.14 percent last year- a drop by 3.1 percent.

The North West Region tops the performance chart at the Advanced Level with a percentage pass of 74.97 while the North Region tails the table with 58.2 percent.

The performance of the North West region is despite an armed conflict that has for five years today, left many institutions barely crawling.

Thousands have been killed in the North West and South West regions as government and separatists remain at loggerheads.
