GCE Ordinary Level Candidate shot by separatist fighters in Bamenda

Ngwang Suh was reportedly shot by some elements of the armed separatist in Bamenda as he resisted kidnap prior to his partaking in the GCE Ordinary examination on August 11, 2020.

Though he is not in a critical condition following the shots which were aimed at him by the separatist fighters, he is however under medical attention healing from his wounds.

The incident took place in a crossroad located some 300 metres away from GBHS Bamenda a about 4pm.

CRTV Northwest journalist, Ndong Djenaga Nambi who may have heard the shots being fired testified that “I got scared and hid myself. It was at this moment that the children who were returning turned around and told me that the separatist fighters wanted to kidnap Ngwang Suh who resisted and was then shot”.

The Mezam Senior Divisional Officer, Simon Mooh upon hearing this went down to where the incident had occurred and boosted the morale of the teachers and the students, assuring them of stepping up the security of both students and teachers to avoid such incidents repeating themselves again. He has equally assured there should be no fear whatsoever from examiners and students over disruption of the examination as he says the examinations are going to continue in utmost serenity and security throughout the eligible centres of the Northwest region.

This incident has further on helped to dent the image of the separatist fighters as a liberation force.

The incidents attributed to the group in recent days have been shocking and unimaginable. In two weeks there have already been two separate killings of defenceless women by the separatist for being black legs trying to mare their struggle. If indeed their purpose for the struggle is standing for the Anglophones in the North West and the Southwest regions, then their actions in recent times have highly contradicted such opinions and they will need a total rethink of their strategies.
