The four suspects were arrested by elements of the Nlongkack Gendarmerie in Yaoundé in collaboration with their colleagues of the Central Post Office Gendarmerie.
The group of four – three men and a lady – were reportedly specialized in the production and falsification of fake documents and forging of fiscal stamps with which they use to deceive their clients.
According to the Gendarmerie authorities, these fraudsters were picked up in connection with an operation that was launched to track down and arrest document forgers who have been making fortunes by deceiving Cameroonians with fake credentials.
The Guardian Post Newspaper reports that these four individuals who unluckily fell into the hands of the law were arrested with hundreds of forged official documents and stamps in their possession.
The Gendarmerie authorities used the opportunity to call on Cameroonians to visit only the appropriate public service for any administrative documents so as not to fall prey to such fraudsters while promising to equally carry out more of such operations.
The operation to wipe out these fraudsters was launched following instructions from the Senior Divisional Officer for Mfoundi, Emmanuel Djikent.
The SDO was categorical in the fact that the recent announcement of recruitment into the public service has seen a massive increase in the production of these fake credentials, thereby making it imperative for an operation of such to be extremely necessary to stamp out the activity.
