Gigantic Leopard Captured In Oku On Christmas Day

On Christmas morning, MMI received a message from the people of Manchok in Oku.

They called it ‘good news’.

A native of the village wrote, “Merry Christmas to you and your entire team! Exciting news from Oku, particularly in Manchok: we successfully captured a leopard this morning.”

Our source added that “we are currently en route to the traditional ruler’s palace to seek directives on what steps to take next.”

Oku is situated in the Bui Division of Cameroon’s North West Region.

This is the first of its kind in the area in many years. They succeeded in capturing the leopard, a wild animal, after it died in a trap set by one of the villagers.

Although the development sparked celebrations in Oku, uncertainty looms concerning the fate of the hunter who captured it.

This is because a leopard is classified by the Cameroon Government as an endangered species.

In Oku, those who kill an animal of that sort rather get rewarded with traditional titles.

“The hunter has been named ‘Nforme’, a title of honour given by the chief of the village. This title shows the bravery of the hunter,” a villager told MMI.

It remains unknown what would happen to the remains of the leopard.
