The ministry of Mines has signed a convention with Chinese partners for the exploitation of gold in Cameroon.
Minister Gabriel Dodo Ndoki talking after the signing at Hotel Mont Febe said it is set to create a total of 2000 jobs, 500 permanent and 1500 temporary.
80% of the work force it was noted too, will be Cameroonians, giving room for the development of the sector by Cameroonians.
Many however question the decision, as several complaints have been made regarding already existing Chinese mining practices in the East region.
China over the past few years has been one of Cameroon’s main partners, signing similar agreements in different sectors of the economy.
These include building and road construction as well as agriculture and technology.
