Five months after they were abducted in the Ndian Division, North West Region of Cameroon, the whereabouts of five administrative officials remain unknown.
Originally six at the time of their abduction, one of the divisional delegates was killed by his captors – separatist fighters, leaving just five.
Five months later, no word has been heard from the separatist fighters as well as the government.
Speaking to MMI, the wife of one of the abducted officials said the silence is leaving them more troubled.
“We are fed up with the situation. I have done my best. Five months after, we still have had nothing…,” she stated.
The victims’ kids, she revealed, have gone for all this while without any word from their parents, leaving them upset.
The missing Ndian delegates are not the first officials to be abducted by separatist fighters. Unlike in other situations, however, their captors have not expressly demanded ransom, or made available any information on their whereabouts.
Many have since pointed accusing fingers at the government which continues to maintain sealed lips over the incident.
